Boring update mk2

oh ya, i'm thinking of getting one of those mini mac's. they're cool. AND affordable. i'll probably upgrade the ram in it. so i can use other people mac stuff. just in case i get someone who doesn't have a PC. you know, stuff like that.

Boring Update

well, updating takes time. i thought i had updated this but i haven't . so here goes. i'm working on homework. I helped my friend erik and his family move into a new apartment on sunday. then the next day i went to the school for 14hrs. i was beat. never drink caffine after 8pm if you want to sleep by 10 or 11pm. oh well. i was off tuesday, and i'm off today. it's nice. but i'm going homework today. oh well.

MLK2 day

Well i'm up in loma linda today. I was going to be working on a website, but am working on some 3d homework instead because the person who was suppose to email us the data to post , emailed it to the wrong address. so who knows who got it. heh. so we had to go buy a fax machine so they could fax us the data. So, now I have to type everything in by hand instead of just copying and pasting it into the web. I hate it when that happens. Oh well.

This is a boring update i know. I just had to post somthing mundane. Take that interesting people!

Life, the universe, and everthing. pt. Deux

I am starting to develop a cold, it sucks. Because developing a cold isn't like anything else, it takes so much work. You have to deprive yourself of just the right amount of nutrients and sleep to get a really good low immune system foundation.

I'm debating weither or not to take some NyQuil©®™ and wondering around in a semi-high daze for the day... then again, I might get some really good posts out of it.

Life, the universe, and everthing.

Ok, i've been posting comments in peoples blogs, this has been fun. I think it's human rights to make comments on things that in normal society says we should keep our noses out of. At least I think we should keep out of. But as long as people bring it up, i'm happy to make comments about it. I mean if they didn't want us to comment about what they says then they wouldn't have brought it up to begin with. So there. Take that. Muahaha. Carry on, you may go about your business.

New Quarter, Level Design, and Weapon of Choice.

Ok a new quater is starting at the Art Institute of California, Orange
County. So i go to class today (wed. 12th) and i find that my 3d
scripting class has been canceled. This is due to the lack of a
teacher. This sucks. It's not that i wasn't expecting it of course.
This is because a week before the quarter I was the job posting on
gamasutra.com and the IGDA OC chapter sent out a note in their
newsletter that the school was looking for one. So most of the people
rushed right over to bitch and complain without first picking which
class they'd like to replace it with. Sometimes i think people are to
quick to anger. Sometimes i think it's warrented but you get so much
more done if you are nice about it, especially if you have all the
info and there is nothing they can do to screw you over. (heh)

Ok, i'm in level design this quater, I'm already tutoring one of the
people in class. She's only had 2 3ds max classes before and now she's
taking level design. I think it's because she had a large amount of
transfer credits, so now she's learning all the 3d programs at once. I
think i'm the only one in the class that already is semi-familiar with
the game software. i'm not sure if it's a bonus yet. I hope I don't
end up doing most of the work. I usually don't. I don't think she will
try to get me to, but if she does, I'm out.

Lately i have meed using Maya more often than 3ds MAX. I'm starting to
prefer some of the stuff in Maya. Mostly like the character rigging
tools and the material editor, you can do so much more it seems with
the Maya materials. Max seems rather limited. Not that i don't know
the work arounds and stuff, but still. There are some things I still
prefer about Max in terms of modeling (like ring, loop, and connect,
those are my fav). Other then those however it's pretty much just a
different tool to get the job done. Right now i'm trying to learn
Softimage XSI (the one you can mod half-life 2 with) and it seems to
be going ok.

Ah yes, back to Level Design. We're using Unread ed. The one that
ships with Unreal Tournement 2004. It's fairly stable and has quite a
bit of documentation. I think it's a better editor than HL2, mostly
because HL2 is still using Hammer, a tool used for HL 1 and older
stuff. Good lord, they still use Quake C or .QC, that's what half-life
1 was done in. However they use QC now and a compiled scripting
language, so it's not as bad.

Ok that's it for now. Time for some food and finish Level Design
stuff. Putting on Fallout 1 & 2 music now, it's rad. Amost as good as
playing the games.
